A two-panel comic contrasting reactions to wrongdoing. In the first panel, captioned "When people you dislike do a bad thing," a balding man slouches in a red armchair watching TV and flatly declares, "They did a bad thing!" In the second panel, captioned "When people you like do a bad thing," the same man sits in the same chair looking pained and defensive, saying, "Dammit guys! If we keep doing the thing we're doing, it'll just make everybody think the thing we're doing is the kind of thing we do!" The joke is the hypocrisy of judging a disliked group's wrongdoing plainly while contorting to excuse the same act from a liked group. Votey: an extreme close-up of the man's anguished, sweating face as he says, "I just hope our actions aren't misconstrued as things that actually occurred," absurdly wishing real deeds away.
