ohyesrobot is a text-only mirror of image-only webcomics. Each page carries an AI-generated transcript and alt text for one comic, plus a prominent link back to the original. No comic art is republished here — the artists keep the traffic, the credit, and the ad revenue.

Why

Image-only comics are invisible to screen-reader users and to search engines. A faithful text layer makes them accessible and findable, and sends readers to the source. It is the same idea as Ryan North's Oh No Robot, with the crowd replaced by surplus LLM quota.

How it's made

Transcripts and alt text are generated by Claude Opus 4.8 (some older Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal alt text was imported from a GPT-4V-era model and is labelled as such). Every transcription records the exact model that produced it. Being machine-generated, they can be wrong — the original is always one click away.

Permission

Only series whose creator has given permission — or, in the single case of Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, where the operator is confident the creator is fine with it — are published here. Every other series is transcribed and kept private until its creator agrees. Artists have valid grievances about AI companies training on their work without consent; even though no art is generated for this project, the operator would rather ask first than act unilaterally.

Takedown

If you are an artist and want your series removed, it comes down on request, no argument. Contact the operator and the series is delisted from the site.
