Panel 2: a view through the train window of a black-and-white cow in a green field, captioned "Out the window, there is a cow." Panels 3-5 show each person's face in turn, with captions: the physicist says "There's a cow," the biologist agrees, and the economist also identifies the animal as a cow. In the classic joke each discipline draws an absurdly cautious conclusion; here the punchline is that all three simply, flatly agree it is a cow. Final wide panel shows all three looking glum, captioned: "All three go back to filling out surveys, reports, and grant applications, each lamenting the slow demise of whimsy in academic culture."
