A two-tone comic. In the main panel, a standing man excitedly points at a wooden chest of drawers and tells his seated companion, "Aw! Look Frank! Below this drawer's bottom there's another drawer!" Frank, leaning on the furniture, asks, "What's in it?" The first man answers, "The... top of the drawer" -- an impossible, recursive arrangement. The caption reads: "Tragically, the Hardy Boys never recovered from investigating MC Escher's home." The joke is that the teen-detective Hardy Boys are baffled by Escher's paradoxical, geometry-defying furniture. In the votey aftercomic, a black-and-white drawing of a mustachioed man's face says, "Let's take those stairs that go down to the roof," extending the impossible-Escher-architecture gag.
