A four-panel comic. A male political advisor in a suit tells a female senator, "Madame Senator, the people demand an insincere apology!" She suggests a heartfelt apology instead, and he reacts, "Are you crazy?" He explains that her opponents will call any apology inadequate while her supporters will call her weak and then resume an "apology cascade." Frustrated, the senator declares, "Dammit, no! It's time I just tell the people what I think!" The advisor narrates, "And so..." In the final panel she stands at a podium before a crowd and says, "My fellow citizens, I would like to sincerely apologize for the insincerity of the apology I am about to give."
