In the second panel the man, without looking up, replies "It makes no difference." A caption beneath reads: "Funtime activity: Erasing every instance of 'Ship of Theseus' in a book with the handwritten words 'Ship of Theseus.'" The joke references the Ship of Theseus thought experiment, where replacing every part of something with identical parts raises the question of whether it remains the same thing. The aftercomic (votey) is plain handwritten text in a white frame reading: "(Technically your monitor is doing this right now)", noting that a screen continuously redraws its pixels, replacing the image with an identical one.
