WHO ARE YE?' and the time traveler replies 'I'M A TIME TRAVELER! TELL ME WHERE THE TREASURE IS HIDDEN!' Panel 2: the defiant pirate shouts 'NEVER, TRAVELER! NEVER!' Panel 3: the time traveler threatens, 'GIVE IT NOW OR I'LL CHANGE THE MEANING OF THE WORDS "BOOTY" AND "POOP" SO THAT OLD SEAFARING BOOKS SOUND STUPID TO CHILDREN,' and the pirate spits 'BAH!' Panel 4: the pirate, now framed at a ship's rail, taunts back 'YE'LL NEVER GET WORD OF MY BOOTY WHILST YE STAND ON MY POOP!' and the time traveler grimly answers 'THE DIE IS CAST' — the joke being that he carried out his threat, which is why those nautical words now sound silly. The aftercomic (votey) is a black-and-white close-up of the smirking time traveler adding 'I'LL ALSO MAKE IT SO YOU SEEM LIKE FUN-LOVING RASCALS INSTEAD OF MURDERERS!', explaining why modern culture romanticizes pirates.
